The painting was inspired by driving at night in Tel Aviv and a feeling that my whole being could be flattened so that the front window screen could contain it together with the glittering lights from the tall buildings that were seen through it. The three dimensionality of the folded paper invites an immersion in the viewed, rather than a perspectival view from an ideal vantage point. the images exist in an imagined space and are an effect of the difficulty in focusing resulting from using several planes for the painting. |
במהלך נהיגת לילה בתל אביב הרגשתי פתאום שכל ישותי יכולה להיות מושטחת ומוכלת בחלון הקדמי של המכונית ביחד עם נצנוצי אורות הבניינים הגבוהים מסביב. תלת הממדיות של הנייר המקופל מזמינה היטמעות בנצפה במקום צפיה מבחוץ מנקודה אידיאלית. הדימוי מתקיים בחלל מדומיין ומהווה אפקט של הקושי בפוקוס מכיון שיש מספר מישורים לציור עצמו. |
