This series of painting, which were created in 1987 and reworked in the following years, depicts social, national, and political actions or ceremonies on large canvases, which give the scenes the appearance of being “larger than life.” The paintings depict the ecstatic emotions awakened by communal gatherings and their prowess in promoting social activities and mindsets. As a poetic device, these artworks utilize the fluidity and dripping of paint, which allows for the viewers to focus on “the bigger picture” which lies beyond the unfolding events depicted in the painting.
