Living in the middle east has shaped my artistic viewpoint that conflates and imbues everyday mundane activities with mythic or archetypal infrastructure. Recent events have shown the extent to which the underlying mythical stories and structures have shaped the history and emotions of the region. My visual search to produce this conflation of ideas has led me into considerations of narrative, text, space, material and movement in art.

Camille blames her brother Horace for preferring patriotism over family obligations, after he killed her fiancé because he belonged to the opposing family of the Curiati. In the play Horace ultimately kills his sister as punishment for cursing and rejecting Rome.

This sculpture, made from copper, refers to the Brazen Serpent made by Moses during the exodus in the desert. Looking at the brazen serpent was the means to cure the Israelites who were being bitten by actual snakes. However, in this sculpture several textual and visual curses are incorporated, thus fusing the healing with curses. The copper was folded to form a double helix, which is the same structure as that of human D.N.A. It was first exhibited at the Jerusalem Biennale 2024.

Pattern and Representation
This body of work examines the tension between pattern and representation by juxtaposing a pattern, usually taken from Islamic art, with a representation of scenes or images. The imagery conveys personal and communal concerns, which are visible to some extent but also immersed in the sameness of the overall pattern. |

Myths and Realities
This body of work explores the tension between myth and reality by representing reality in such a way as to evoke structures that recall other personal or communal memories. |

Folded Paintings - Urban Themes
This series of artworks explores the qualities of pictorial space by combining folded paper that creates a three-dimensional form with painted transparencies. This combination forms a unique imagined space, created by the difficulty of simultaneously focusing on the outer and inner layers. The urban themes, which are prevalent in this series, further the feeling of visual precariousness by representing the difficulties of finding a personal space within the city. |

Chronotope/Cylindrical Paintings - Time and Space
This series of artworks explores the configurations of time and space in visual art by representing the pictorial image on a three dimensional rotating canvas or paper, which forms a helix shaped object. The viewer is encouraged to construct a narrative from the changing images. |

The cylindrical painting shown in the video was initiated by seeing my father in the hospital after he had a stroke. The title is inspired by a question he asked when he had not yet recovered: "Is this all?"

Political Ceremonies- Large Scale Images
This series of painting depicts social, national, and political actions on large canvases, which give the scenes the appearance of being “larger than life.” The paintings depict the ecstatic emotions awakened by communal gatherings and their prowess in promoting social activities and mindsets. |
